Performance Titles : The Certificate of Gameness
The Certificate of Gameness is a test of a dog'sworking ability in a simulated underground tunnel. The score is determined by working style and the time to reach quarry.
The AWTA offers a Certificate of Gameness and requires 1-100% score in the 30 ft tunnel to qualify. BWTA & JRTCA ( JRTCA is Jack Russells only )offer a trial certificate for 1-100% score in the 30ft tunnel. ADBA is currently developing a Certificate of Gameness program with Fay Craft acting as the Patterdale Consultant.
In 2005, Fay Craft developed the PTCA Certificate of Gameness program and was appointed as chairman, by Bob Burns, PTCA's founder. The PTCA program was modeled after the above programs and combined the the Trial Certificate and Certificate of Gameness certificates into its program. The PTCA program awarded a Trial Certificate for 1 -100% score in the 30 ft tunnel and a Certificate of Gameness for 3 -100% scores in the 30 ft tunnel. FTS also offers a COG under the same criteria.
Fox Briar is a firm believer in natural earthwork, but also participates in the Go To Ground classes to provide their terriers with an outlet to work, due to limited availability of hunting experiences in our geographical region.
Fox Briar titles its terriers in these competitions, not in lieu of a natural hunting experience, but as an enhancement to working in the field.
We have over 20 years of experience in GTG and have taught many new comers to Patterdales how to participate in, judge and train their terriers for GTG competetion. All the current FL Patterdale breeders, with the exception of Mary Choate, who started in terriers with Fay Craft, have learned under her tutelege, to participate in GTG, and have now branched out on their own & are in turn , training others.
We welcome any questions you may have on the Go To Ground or the GTG programs with ADBA/FTS/UKC.
